BASIC STROKES
Dominik shows 3 basic strokes.
Watch the position of his hand on the front panel.
BASS: Make your palm flat and fold your fingers back slightly. Tap the lower edge of the upper third of the plate with your palm. For the loudest bass, the palm should bounce off the surface.
CLICK: Hit the upper corners of the cajon with stiff fingers.
SNARE: Hit the upper corners of the cajon with palm and fingers.
ADVANCED STROKES
Dominik shows 3 advanced strokes.
SLAP: The same as SNARE, except that we strike the panel with relaxed (soft) fingers – whip effect.
SLIDE: Push an extended middle finger into the panel and allow it to bounce as it rubs the front panel.
FOOT SLIDE: Use the pressure of the foot to change the tension of front panel.
